This semester of Immunology I have learned so much. From topics on the immune system having both innate and adaptive responses, cells of the immune system, complement activation and hypersensitivity reactions. There was so much more that I had learned and so many concepts that I had to grasp such as all the complex pathways for activating T cells, B cells, and complement. Each different pathway containing different special activating factors and activation inhibitors. Along with each pathway we learned different cytokines, proteins, and interleukines that all played a part.
To actually understand all the knowledge obtained we were given case sutdies. Different case studies throughout the semester dealt with several different disorders from inactive T cells, immunoglobulin deficiencies, and hypersensitivity responses. Completing the case studies allowed me to understand what diseases or disorders that the cell or immunolgobulin are responsible for.
In class activities such as the amazing art we were responsible for developing and explaining on the board also helped with my learning of how each pathway worked. I am a fairly visual person because I don't always hear things the same way as they are spoken. Often I would repeat back what the professor would say out loud just to be sure I heard and understood correctly.
I have enjoyed this class the entire way through and everything about it I liked especially the case studies which made me think of the show HOUSE! I enjoyed lab as well. The only thing I can say taht I dislike is leaving the class to further my learning.
